2018 will be bringing in the classic competition element of the first years of the anthology. Don't worry, all submissions will be published. However, the top 3 submissions will receive discounts and prizes too!
The best short story, poem, or illustration will receive free registration (paid-back on the first day of camp).
Second place will receive 50% back on the registration price paid, and third place will receive 25% back.
All submissions are included in one judging category; short stories, poems, and artwork will not be judged in separate categories.
Due to a lack of submissions, the anthology contest and print publication has been cancelled this year.
However, a digital copy may be put together with the works created during the camp weekend, to be released after camp.
Anthology Submission Rules 2018
Submissions for Write for the Summer: Volume II are only open to paid/registered students.
Short stories and poems are limited to a maximum of 5 pages, excluding the cover letter. Type must be 12-point Times New Roman and double-spaced with one-inch margins. Failure to follow these rules will result in the entry to be disqualified. Include a cover letter with your name, age, and home city.
Artwork is also limited to 3 pieces. The image must fit an 8.5" x 11" page with 1 inch margins. Image resolution must be at least 1080p and sent as a jpeg. To send in artwork, please do so digitally to firstname.lastname@example.org. A cover letter, matching the requirements for written submissions, must also be included.
One complimentary copy of the anthology is included in the registration fee.
Controversial content will be subject to the scrutiny and final judgement of the judges for this years contest. If this is the case, judges will contact young writers (parents must be cc’d) to discuss potential solutions or alternatives for submission. Content proved to be too inappropriate by the judging panel will be rejected.
